This owner’s objective was to demolish a small side-
The developer then changed tactic and provided a planning proposal to clear the site and build 3 houses on the plot. The 3rd house was the same and located in the same place as the house previously refused, but now the bungalow would be removed and so the house could not dwarf the adjacent property. The developer was successful with this 3 house proposal and conditions were attached to ensure that all three houses were completed before any house could be occupied.
The developer then applied to progress in 2 separate phases. The first phase would be to demolish studio and build the detached house to the side of the bungalow. And then, to quote the planning application, ‘Phase 2 would be undertaken in 3 to 4 years depending upon family circumstances and the prevailing economic situation.’ The proposed phasing was agreed at appeal.
The house to the side was built,sold and occupied. The owners of the bungalow then sold the bungalow and moved out of the area. So we do not expect phase 2 to be commenced any time soon.
Remember these are very prestigious awards. There are a few very competitive developers that are working tirelessly for their own place and the honour of being in this hall of fame. All they need is for neighbours and residents to allow them to succeed.
