‘The local residents’ association has been consulted and they have expressed no concerns with this proposal’
The developer clearly stated in the planning application that the local residents’ association (RA) has been consulted and they have not expressed any concerns. This implied that the RA is fully satisfied with the application.
In reality the developer had telephoned the RA chairman. On the call the developer had introduced himself and asked if he or the RA have any views on the planning application? To which the RA chairman replied
‘No comment’ and politely ended the conversation.
It was technically true that “the RA had been consulted and they expressed no concerns.” However, it is also a gross distortion of the truth and clear winner for the deception.
